Birds : An exhibition of Paintings and Sculpture of Birds

In recent years Lindsey has returned to her childhood passion of wildlife art, creating vivid and lively compositions of birds alongside her landscape work. Lindsey's recent body of work are meticulously observed birds, all of which are regularly seen in the gardens and landscape around us.  All of the works are exquisitely and uniquely framed, the wren and goldcrest in unusual antique frames, the woodpecker and jay in handpainted frames, in each case reflecting the habitats of the birds themselves.  Images of the frames can be seen if you click on the link to each individual painting. 

Brin Edwards 

Much of the inspiration for his paintings comes from the fields and hedgerows close to home.

The ideas for Brin’s pictures relate to direct observation and often involve a split-second glimpse of a bird which sets in motion an idea for a composition. Sometimes an image will arrive, fully formed and will demand urgently to be resolved but more often ideas will rattle around for some time before they are committed to canvas. Walks through the surrounding fields and woods provide inspiration as well as the along East coast and through the wide expanses of North Norfolk.

Elliot Channer, Sculpture

We are delighted to be showing Elliot's work in this Exhibition.  Described by Belgravia magazine as one of the 'young stars' of the international art fair circuit, he is influenced by the animal sculptures of Rembrandt Bugatti and Antoine- Louis Barye.

Largely self-taught, Elliot takes inspiration from the countryside, initially in Staffordshire and Derbyshire, Elliot now travels  throughout the country in order to observe and photograph animals in their natural habitat. The works shown here are all small limited editions. 

John Harmer

John Harmer's lifelong interest in ornithology was rekindled recently by some local walks - particularly some in a  local area called Church Norton near Chichester. He says that he also likes the formal possibilities offered by a patterned shape on a flat background. He has also enjoyed working on working on cotton rag papers for these works which gives him opportunities to create new and different textures with the paint.
